Julia Child Mastering the Art of French Cooking

Welcome to our website about French Cooking. We share with you great information on French Cooking, French Wine, and French Cheeses. One of the primary aspects of French cooking is to take time to appreciate your meal.

This is the classic cookbook with a compilation of 524 recipes. Anyone can buy this book and cook in the French manner. The book can help seasoned cooks and beginners who love good food and long to reproduce at home the delicious delights of the classic cuisine. The book has over 100 instructive illustrations which make it so simple.

When I first bought the book, I did not know how to cook anything. All I knew was how to heat and serve. I purchased cookbooks to learn and tried a number of recipes but didn’t get them right. The books explained the steps but because I was a beginner, I couldn’t follow them properly and achieved the desired results.

But after I picked up this book, it was incredible. My kids love the food I cook. They demand for it and want me to cook dinner for them every day. The book has both easy and complex recipes. The step by step instructions with illustrations are well thought out. Cooking involves a lot of technique and the illustrations help you walk through it.

The book breaks down the classic cuisine into a logical sequence of themes and variations unlike other books which present an endless and confusing catalogue of recipes. The focus in the book is on key recipes that form the backbone of French cookery. It was easy for me to follow the instructions as the recipes adapt classical techniques, wherever possible, to modern American conveniences.

The ingredients mentioned in the book are easily available at the grocery store. Julia Child, the author of the cookbook notes how to adjust for canned or frozen vs. fresh and what can be the substitutes. I have mastered the art of cooking crepes, omelets, roasts and soups like Vichysoisse and the garden green beans.

The book is a complete guide for my dinners. It offers suggestions which include the proper wines which will accompany your meals. The book has been written by three authors who were instructors in a school of French cooking `Les Ecole des Trois Gourmandes' in Paris in 1950’s. The experience that they gained in the school made them write the book. This explains the elaborate illustrations and the simple instructions in the book that treat the readers like beginners. The book has a very familiar and comfortable outline of the table of contents. There are different chapters covering Soups, Sauces, Eggs, Deserts and Cakes separately.

We hope you enjoy French cooking as much as we do.
